Reko Diq
Reko Dik: Reko Dik is a large oil and gold reserve located in Chaghi District, Balochistan, developed by the Canadian company. The project is 50% owned by Barrick Gold, 25% by the Government of Pakistan, and 25% by the Government of Balochistan.
The target is to start the first production by 2028.

Employment opportunities
- The construction phase will employ approximately 7,500 people, while 3,500–4,000 permanent jobs will be created when continuous production begins.
- As of March 2025, 77–78% of the company’s employees are from Balochistan, of which 50–65% are from Chaghi District.
- Furthermore, the number of women among employees has increased to 14%.

Education and Training Initiative
- The International Graduate Development Program has been launched, providing young graduates from Balochistan with world-class mining training. So far, the first two cohorts have included 27 graduates, including 8 women.
- A Technical Training Institute was established in Noorkundi in collaboration with Hunar Foundation. where 286 students have enrolled in Phase I and II, and 291 students in Phase III. Courses include IT, pipe fitting, electrical, and artisan skills.
- A public forum was held in which the local population, youth, and partner institutions—such as Indus Hospital and Hunar Foundation—participated and reviewed the progress of training and health projects.

Health Facilities
- A community health center has been established in Humai village. A mobile medical unit is providing services in Noorkundi and the surrounding areas.
- All these services were launched in collaboration with Indus Hospital Network (IHHN) This is providing quality healthcare facilities at the regional level.

Financial and Social Investment
- During 2023–24, Rs. 2 billion was provided to local suppliers in Chagai and Rs—4.1 billion in supply contracts across Balochistan.
- The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) has been approved, and the company is also committed to the social sustainability and environmental protection of the project
- The Board has approved a loan of up to $3 billion for Phase‑1, including $700 million in IFC/IDA-approved loans—the initial drafts of this loan will be taken by the second half of 2025.

- US company Fluor has been selected as the EPCM partner that will work with Barrick on the construction design of the project
- Japanese company Komatsu has announced a $440 million contract to provide mining equipment and establish a maintenance hub in Karachi, which will employ 500 engineers for the future.
