Punjab Ki Pehchaan: Hunarmand Naujawan
Lahore (July 22, 2025): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif today launched a new and practical initiative aimed at highlighting the skills of the youth in the province. The program is called “Punjab Ki Pehchaan: Hunarmand Naujawan”, in which the trained youth in various fields will be given stable employment, autonomy, and social identity.
Goals of the program
- Number of skilled youth:
About 100,000 youth.
- Training and employment:
Mobile training units (Skills on Wheels), call center training, digital courses, garment design, etc.

- Special incentives:
Transgender, rural women, and resident women are given priority.
- Financial assistance:
Bank loans, stipends, world-class certificates, and Skill Cards.
Skills taught under the program
- Skills on Wheels:
Mobile classrooms to take training to rural and remote areas.
- Plug-and-Play Call Center Unit:
5,000 youth in the initial phase, earning up to about Rs 100,000 per month after 6 weeks of training.

- Garment Training for Women:
Training from Quid E-ism Business Park, bus facility, and a monthly stipend of Rs 20,000.
- Mein Digital Program:
Providing digital literacy, scholarship, and free computers to about 27,000 rural women.

More than 2,500 youth benefited from employment opportunities abroad,d and contracts worth about Rs 27 billion were signed.
- Pehchaan Program for Transgender:
Employment in garments, makeup, and other sectors, and a monthly stipend of Rs 8,000.
Financial costs and options
- Budget:
About Rs 26 billion has been allocated specifically for this program in the budget for the financial year 2025–26.
- Harmonization of Institutions:
PSDF, TEVTA, PVTC, PSDA, PBTE, and other TVET institutions have been brought under SDED to reduce bureaucratic hurdles in skill training.
What have we achieved so far from the project?
- Mobile Classrooms: Around 4,000 youth completed IT courses and obtained international certificates.
- Call Centre Unit: 5,000 youth trained in the first phase, preparation for another 95,000 underway.
- Rural Women: 27,000 applied for online courses.
- Transgender: Around 1,600 people received training under the Panchan Programme.

Maryam Nawaz’s Vision
Maryam Nawaz says, “Skill is not just a source of employment but a driver of national development” – the main objective is that every youth should be proficient in one skill. He said on World Youth Day (July 15) that the initiative will empower youth in freelancing, edtech, agriculture, environmental protection, and other sectors.

- Hunarmand Scholarship for the second lease:
Scholarship for 20,000 students launched—laptop scouring and digital education boosted.

Progress continues in the field of cleanliness, sanitation, and provincial aviation.
- Establishment of new IT universities and medical colleges:
The foundation of a medical college in Layyah, IT universities in other cities are being laid.
