Phase 3 of Dhee Rani Program: The Dhee Rani program is a commendable initiative launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in support of the underprivileged and needy. This program aims to provide poor and needy girls with the opportunity to lead a dignified life. Marriage is a sacred duty in Islam, but due to rising inflation, poor and needy parents are unable to fulfill this duty.

This group marriage program not only provides girls with a chance to live a dignified life by providing them with a livelihood, but also links educational obligations with health facilities and Keeping in mind the autonomy, welfare, and freedom of women, the Punjab government has formally launched the Dhee Rani Program Phase Three. The prominent feature of this phase is that its Islamic limit has been increased from one lakh to two lakh, so that women can choose a better future for themselves with this money after marriage.

Objectives of Dhee Rani program 

 The Dhirani Program is a mass marriage project with the following objectives:

  • Providing financial assistance for the marriage of deserving, destitute, orphans, and disabled children 
  • Providing facilities for marriage 
  • Providing an opportunity to live a new life with dignity and happiness 
  • Reducing the burden on poor parents 
  • Eliminating the scourge of dowry from society 
  • Establishing equality in society through group marriages 
  • Empowering women through financial assistance 
  • Promoting social justice

Criteria for eligibility

To benefit from any of the fly programs launched by the government, an eligibility criterion is also set to ensure that the beneficiaries get their rights. Only those who are truly entitled to this assistance can benefit from the program. The eligibility criteria for the Dhee Rani  program are as follows:

  • Permanent Resident:

The applicant should be a permanent resident of the concerned state or district.

  • Income Limit:

The annual family income should be less than ₹2 lakh or the limit prescribed by the government.

  • Age of the girl:

The girl should be at least 18 years of age at the time of marriage.

  • Education 

The girl may be required to be enrolled in school/college for some benefits.

  • Unmarried:

She should be unmarried at the time of registration.

  • Residence Proof
  • Educational Certificates (if applicable)
  • Birth Certificate of Girl Child
  • Marriage Registration Certificate in case of marriage

Registration Via Portal

To benefit from the Dher Ani program, you can also apply through the portal. In this way, first of all, 

  • Open the desired government website on your mobile 
  • Enter your CNIC in the designated field
  • Enter the tehsil, phone number, email, etc 
  • Upload the required documents

Registration Via the Centre

If you do not have the facility to file an online application, you can also apply by visiting the office of your nearest Deputy Director of Social Welfare. For this procedure, you must have the following documents with you:

  • Girl’s identity card 
  • Identity card of either parent

  • Proof of income 
  • A disability certificate for anyone who is disabled
  • Affidavit to willingly participate in an unmarried and group marriage

Every bride selected in the Dhee Rani program is given a cash prize of up to Rs 200,000 by the Chief Minister of Punjab. This cash prize is given as a gift. The purpose of this cash prize is to preserve the independence of the bride. With the money received in the form of this cash prize, the bride can also start a small business for her prosperous future.

New update about Dhee Raani program

A substantial amount was also approved for the Dhee Rani program in the Punjab budget 2025-26. In the previous budget, the number of beneficiaries of the Dhirani program was 3,000. Now this number has been increased from 3,000 to 5,000. An indicative amount of 1.7 billion rupees has been allocated.
