- But despite this, it still requires financial subsidy. The Punjab government has approved a subsidy package of Rs 7 billion for 2025‑26, to cover operational costs, maintenance, loan repayment, electricity, and staff salaries, and to keep the fare cheap (around Rs 30‑40 per journey)
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s initiatives
- The old token system used in Metro Bus and Orange Line will be abolished, and a digital payment system will be implemented, in which travel will be possible through credit/debit cards, mobile apps, NFC, and T‑Cash Card
- A universal transit card will be introduced for all mass transit, including a separate card for students.
- Electric buses and BRT services have been announced to start in various districts from August 2025, including Orange Line and Red Line BRT services in Faisalabad

This program is a great opportunity for young professionals to build their future. It not only provides practical experience in the field of transport infrastructure but also promotes economic inclusion, environmental improvement, and affordable travel facilities in cities.
