Welfare Revolution in Punjab: Maryam Nawaz Ration Card Scheme. The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has taken another historic step and launched the “Maryam Nawaz Ration Card Scheme” for the welfare of the working class. The scheme aims to provide relief to millions of families who work mentally and physically in this era of inflation.
A special ceremony was held in this regard at the Civil Affairs Department, where Provincial Minister Sher Ali Gorchani attended as the chief guest. Ration cards were distributed to selected families in the ceremony, through which they will be able to get monthly essential items from specific shops at a discounted price.

Salient Features of Ration Card Scheme:
- Monthly ration package (flour, sugar, ghee, pulses, etc.) with special concession
- Provision of digital ration cards to registered deserving families
- Transparent registration in collaboration with NADRA and the Social Welfare Department
- A complaint and information system through a mobile app and helpline

Registration method for deserving families:
To benefit from this scheme, applicants must be registered in NADRA records. In addition, families who are included in the Benazir Income Support Program or the Ehsaas Program will be automatically included in this scheme.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on the occasion that “Our government’s mission is that every laborer, every poor citizen of Punjab should live a dignified life. The ration card scheme is a step towards establishing a welfare state.”

Scheme Launch and Duration:
- Scheme Formal Launch: July 2025
- In the Initial Phase: Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur
- In Later Phases: Expansion to the Entire Punjab

- Section of undeserving people through auto-verification
- A full receipt of items will be given to the cardholder every month
- Strict monitoring and digital tracking by the government
On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a “Ration Card Scheme” has been launched across the province. Under this scheme, ration will be provided to deserving and low-income families every month at subsidized rates. People registered through ration cards will be able to get flour, sugar, ghee, and other essential items from specific shops. The registration process is ongoing both online and physically. This scheme is a positive step towards public welfare that will help reduce economic pressure.
