Cochlear implants
Cochlear implants: A special ceremony was held at the PBM Head Office in Islamabad on April 10, 2025. On this occasion, the “Clear Implant” series, which is a modern cochlear implant device imported from Australia, was launched among 1944 children of low-income families.
The campaign is being spread across the country through the health infrastructure, starting from the federal capital, to improve the lives of poor children with hearing loss.
Objective and nature of the operation
PBM provided international standard cochlear implants to meet the unaffordable costs of healthy hearing. Senator Butt stated:
“Cochlear implants are not just medical devices but are doors of opportunity that guarantee a bright future.”
During the event, the parents of the children, doctors, and PBM officials also reviewed the impact of the organized provision of Speech Therapy, Paramedical facilities, and Rehabilitation after the surgery.

Practical progress
Some of the key results so far are as follows:
- Total number of children: 944
- Total cost: Each implant costs about Rs. 2.1 million (PKR 2.1 million)
- Total support: About 1,738 children have undergone surgeries, spending Rs. 2,343 million
- Wild hopes: Parents expressed joy at hearing their children’s first voice, especially hearing the call to prayer, which became an emotional moment for the children and families.
Strategy and collaboration
This program is a result of PBM’s expansion and transparency policies. So far, Medical BS has been implemented in several district offices and hospitals.

- Provided continuous speech therapy and rehabilitation
- Managed facilities at partner hospitals
- Strengthened the system of constant communication with parents and medical guidance

Vision for the future
The MD of PBM has appealed for public support to ensure that this initiative reaches more underprivileged children.
He said:
