CM Punjab school Van/Bus Service. Maryam Nawaz’s historic launch of the school bus/van service. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the first-ever “school van/bus service” for the national school system on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. This decision has been taken to facilitate the travel of students to and from school in government schools in Punjab. She also directed the relevant departments to present a complete practical outline of this service.

- The aim of the school van/bus service is to facilitate the educational journey of students in remote areas.
- The Chief Minister also launched the “On-Wheel Montessori School” project, which will serve as mobile schools.
- According to Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, under the model of organising education in government schools through private partnership, the number of students has increased by 99% and the number of teachers has increased by 114%.
- This model has registered 1.3 million new students and provided self-employment to over 60,000 youth.
- Initially, the school infrastructure included renovation of 5,018 classrooms, rehabilitation of 2,887 roofs, conversion of dozens of schools to solar energy and construction of 413 new classrooms

Other education and training initiatives
- “School of the Month” and “Teacher of the Month” award scheme launched:
The awards will be given based on the school’s management, classroom quality, lab facilities and academic performance
- Nonaz Sharif Centre of Excellence:
Total enrolment is being increased to 1,500 students from the current 240 students
- School Meal Programme:
Mid-day meals will be provided in several districts, including Nishtar, Layyah, Bhakkar, Mianwali, which will include milk, energy bars and biscuits

- Early Childhood Education Infrastructure:
10,000 new primary education classrooms are being built across Punjab
A target has been set to build 6,000 STEM labs and 400 new toilet blocks (especially for girls)
- Digital Training and English Conversation Programme:
Google’s training block for teachers and students is ongoing, while 300,000 students are being enrolled in the IELTS Level 4 English Conversation Programme

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed that Punjab’s government schools be made to a higher standard than the private sector. He stressed quality teacher training, a uniform system of school admissions, and improving the quality of education.

This initiative is not only being seen as a milestone in education reforms but also a means of ensuring the educational attainment of children in remote areas. The school van/bus service and mobile school lab are expected to be operational in all districts soon.
