BISP 8171 Scammers alerts: Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) is a major welfare scheme of the Government of Pakistan under which financial assistance is provided to deserving families. However, in recent times, there has been an increase in fake messages and fraud related to 8171. Fraudsters are resorting to fake SMS, websites, and calls to mislead the public to extract personal information or money from gullible people. In this article, we will tell you how you can avoid such fraud and how to recognize genuine BISP messages.
What is 8171 BISP fraud?
8171 is an official short code through which BISP sends messages related to registration, eligibility, and payments to eligible individuals. But fraudsters imitate this same number and send suspicious links, false offers of prizes, and ask for money on the pretext of registration.

For example:
“Congratulations! You have received Rs. 50,000 from BISP. Call now or fill out the form to get your money.”
Such messages are completely false and fraudulent.
Current status of fraud (2025):
With the release of new installments of BISP in July and August 2025, SMS scams similar to 8171 have become common.
Several fake websites like 8171ehsaasportal.xyz or bisp-help. Online thieves are stealing data from ordinary users by using CNIC.
Fake agents in Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are demanding fees for registration in the name of BISP, which is completely illegal.
Difference between real and fake messages:
Number only 8171. Any common mobile number or fake link
Language and tone: Simple and formal,l Emotional, passionate, or suspicious
Demand is informational only. Demand for money, mobile balance, or urgent action
Recent Fraud:
A digital fraud gang was arrested in Muzaffargarh in February 2025, which fraudulently withdrew money from BISP compensation. Rs 3000 was illegally deducted from a woman’s account because they changed the location of the transaction.
Easy ways to avoid fraud:
- Trust only 8171 – Use only the official website: 8171
- Do not share personal information – If anyone asks for CNIC, OTP, or biometric information, refuse immediately.
- Beware of fake agents – BISP does automatic registration without any fee.
- Report suspicious SMS immediately – Forward such messages to PTA on 9000 or contact FIA Cyber Crime Cell.
Inform your elderly or illiterate relatives – Most victims are those who find it difficult to read or understand SMS.
