The federal government formally launched the Apna Meter Apna Reading app on June 29, 2025, by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The innovative facility allows consumers to upload their electricity meter readings. The Government of Pakistan and WAPDA, the electricity distribution companies, are introducing a new application, Apna Meter Apna Reading, for the convenience of consumers. The app aims to enable electricity consumers to send their meter readings so that billing is accurate and problems are reduced
.The ‘Apna Meter Apni Reading‘ app provides the facility to consumers to submit their electricity meter readings themselves. Through this app, the consumers can submit their electricity readings themselves from their mobile without the help of WAPDA officials. The app is easy to use, and in it, the consumers take a picture of the meter and upload it, which enables accurate billing. This initiative has been introduced for transparency, accuracy, and time-saving. This app is an important part of Water’s modern digital services and provides autonomy to the consumers.

Why was there a need to introduce the app?
In the past, consumers faced severe problems due to incorrect meter readings, estimated billing, and field staff shortcomings in electricity bills. To solve these problems, a modern app has been launched so that all consumers can send their meter readings and photos through the app, which will be used directly at the time of billing.
