Agricultural Internship Program: Maryam Nawaz launches second phase of agriculture internship program, 2000 graduates to get a monthly stipend of Rs 60,000. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the second phase of the Agriculture Graduates Internship Program, taking a major step for the youth in the agriculture sector. In this phase, 2,000 more young graduates are being included, who will be given a monthly stipend of Rs 60,000 for a year.

The results of the first phase

The first phase of this program was introduced earlier this year, under which 1,000 students were deployed in different rural areas of Punjab. Their services have benefited lakhs of farmers and provided them with modern agricultural advice.

After the success of the first phase, the Punjab government has decided to expand the program and launch the second phase, so that more youth can get practical experience and farmers can get guidance on modern farming methods.

Agricultural Internship Details

  • Duration: 

12 months (one year)

  • Stipend: 

Rs. 60,000 per month per intern

  • Total Interns: 

1,000 new interns in the second phase, making a total of 2,000

  • Placement: 

Union Councils and rural areas across Punjab

Eligibility Criteria

Only those candidates will be eligible for this program who:

  • Permanent residents of Punjab (domicile required)
  • Holding at least a B.Sc. degree in Agriculture
  • Age limit of approximately 25 years or less
  • Good communication, eagerness to learn, and interest in field work
  • Having a smartphone to use a GPS and a digital reporting system

Training and Responsibilities

The selected interns will be trained under the supervision of the Agriculture Department. Their responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Guidance to local farmers on fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and better crop care
  • Education of farmers about soil analysis and fertility
  • Dissemination of information related to government schemes and subsidy programs
  • Reporting of all field work through GPS tracking
