PM Apna Meter Apni Reading App: Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given the green light to gradually phase out the use of meter readers in all power distribution companies nationwide, excluding the Karachi Electric Service region. With this change, he has taken a new step and decided to introduce a mobile app for consumers called “Apna Meter Apni Reading”.

The Prime Minister has directed that this mobile app, Power Smart, be developed, and guidance should be provided for its use in the national language, Urdu, and four regional languages , namely Punjabi, Sindhi, Pashto, and Balochi. The Prime Minister has directed the Power Division to present a complete plan that can replace meter readers within a month. The plan will have transparency:

Media Campaign and Awareness
The Power Division and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting have been directed to launch a comprehensive media campaign to make the general public aware of the benefits, usage, and objectives of the “Apna Meter, Apna Reading” app. This campaign will be presented to the Prime Minister for approval this week.
